5 Excuses You Can Use If You Are Always Late

Traffic is an excuse as old as time. Everyone has used this excuse at least once in their life, especially if you live in Lagos. The best part about it is that everyone will believe you.

You can always say someone in your family died and the news was why you showed up late. This excuse can also be used to skip events altogether. The only problem with this is that it’s one death per family member, and if too many people die, people might think your generation is cursed. Also, do not forget to keep track of the people you have claimed died before someone sees your “late” uncle Tunde in the market.

Claim you woke up with a headache or a flu and you felt a bit slow. The best thing about this is that people will hover around you to be sure you’re okay. The bad thing is that friends will start dropping by different home remedies for your sickness, and you have to play sick. This prevents you from having fun.

This can only work if they know you are taking public transportation and will not be the one driving. You tell someone the vehicle you were in had an accident and you only escaped by the grace of God. Your family might make you give testimony in church and the thunder might strike you for lying on the altar, but that is the worst that could happen. Maybe you should fortify yourself with juju before you go.

This is a combined excuse. It starts with the supposed car fault, and then then it spirals. You call as you are leaving your house and say you had a car fault. About thirty minutes later, you talk about how you just got another taxi and it took so long because none of the cabs wanted to go your way. The last and final excuse will be how you’re stuck in traffic.
